The advancing academicization of healthcare professions requires educators who combine deep subject expertise with high pedagogical professionalism. Only then can they keep pace with the significant dynamics in the field of health education. The M.A. Health Education (Gesundheitspädagogik) equips you with a well-founded, practice-oriented competence profile — the professional pedagogical know-how to master all tasks and challenges of daily work at health vocational schools.
With the Master's degree, you receive a state-recognized teaching qualification for health and nursing schools in your own healthcare profession. This recognition is valid nationwide across Germany. In this way, you permanently secure your professional future as a qualified teacher at health vocational schools. Additionally, you qualify for leadership positions at state-recognized vocational schools.
The programme combines presence-based study phases with self-directed learning via the e-learning platform, allowing you to organize your studies individually and optimally align them with your professional and family situation. A practice semester — adaptable to individual needs — ensures the acquisition of practice-relevant competencies for teaching and other roles at vocational schools.
Important note: This is not a Lehramtsstudium (state teaching degree). It does not qualify for teaching at state schools, state vocational schools (Berufsschulen), vocational high schools (Berufsgymnasien), or upper secondary centers (Oberstufenzentren), which typically require a completed state teaching degree in one vocational and one general subject.
“Health education plays a decisive role in our modern society. Health educators convey knowledge and competencies. We ultimately empower people to lead a healthy and fulfilled life. This requires psychological, didactic, and technical skills and knowledge to design teaching and learning processes for specific target groups. At Health Innovation University, our experts teach this toolkit — hands-on, in small learning groups, and embedded in a strong network of partners. Health educators have a job guarantee. Our team ensures you master the job with distinction.”
