FAQ name change

IB Hochschule für Gesundheit und Soziales to "Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences"

Yes, fully. AHPGS accreditation applies to the institution and its programs — not to a name. All current and future degrees carry the same AHPGS accreditation and German state recognition.

No. BAföG eligibility is tied to state recognition, which is continuous through the name change. If you currently receive BAföG or are eligible for it, this is unaffected.

Existing tuition arrangements are unchanged. Future intake tuition is set at program level — please check the current program fact sheet or contact admissions for the latest fee schedule.

No. Your existing enrollment contract, program conditions and tuition arrangements remain unchanged. Your degree will be issued under the new Health Innovation University name — a stronger credential internationally.

The AHPGS accreditation and state recognition remain unchanged - authorities, in our case the Berlin Senate Department, focus on these rather than on the commercial name. HIU will be listed under its new name in ANABIN. In most markets, the English name is even better recognized. State recognition by the Berlin Senate Department under the new university name has been granted.

The application process and admission requirements remain unchanged. The portal URL and branding will be updated to HIU. For international students, APS, IELTS, and the document requirements remain the same.

A short addendum will be issued confirming the name change and that all existing contractual terms remain unchanged. No new commission agreement is required. Contact your HIU agent manager for the addendum

Updated English program fact sheets, logos and brand guidelines are being distributed by the HIU Marketing. Please do not use 'IB Hochschule' in new materials after April 2026. All materials will be available for download from the HIU agent portal.

Yes. State recognition (staatliche Anerkennung) is continuous through the name change. The recognition applies to the institution, not the name. All programs retain their state-recognized status.

The legal entity continues as the same institution with the same registration, the same tax identification and the same contracts. The name change is a rebranding of the operating institution — not a dissolution or re-establishment. All obligations, accreditations and agreements transfer automatically
