Diversity and interdisciplinarity
The part-time Health Care Education / Gesundheitspädagogik degree puts you in the same room as practitioners from a wide range of health professions. You'll build knowledge in education and the social sciences and learn how to bring the two together in your day-to-day work. You'll pick up the foundational didactic and methodological skills you need to design, plan, run, and evaluate health-related learning programmes for very different audiences. The course rounds this out with further competencies in areas like health counselling and health promotion.
State-recognised teaching authorisation across the federal states
The educational skills you develop here, combined with the expertise you already bring from your own health profession, qualify you to teach at state-recognised vocational health schools. Requirements vary by federal state and profession before you can take up a full-time post as a vocational school teacher* (for example, Brandenburg and the nursing professions require a master's degree). We're happy to walk you through the details one-on-one.
Where it can take you
A varied study plan and flexibly arranged placements give you room to qualify for a number of different fields in healthcare. Beyond teaching at health vocational schools, the degree opens doors across the wider health system (see also the Career Prospects and Fields of Activity section).
* Teaching work in this sector is split into full-time and part-time roles. A full-time teaching post means a 50-100% workload and usually requires at least a (health) education bachelor's degree.
“Our goal is to provide students with respectful, empathetic, and scientifically sound education that focuses on their competencies and prepares them for real-world challenges.”
