Programme Profile
The M.Sc. Digital Health is a part-time continuing-education Master's designed for professionals working in healthcare, medicine, medical technology, IT, insurance, pharmacy, and psychology. The programme is offered on the Gesundheitscampus at Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (ukb) — one of Germany's leading digital clinics — and focuses on practical applications of digital health rather than managing them from a distance.
Students are taught in deliberately small groups (max. 30 per cohort) by a highly qualified team drawn from medical practice, information technology, and healthcare law. The teaching format follows a block-week model — three block weeks per semester, each lasting three days (typically Wednesday to Friday), with reflection phases delivered online. This structure makes it possible to combine the programme with full-time employment and family life.
No programmeming knowledge is required — and none is taught. The programme focuses on the application of digital health technologies in clinical and ambulatory settings: from AI-driven diagnostics and telemedicine to digital prevention and therapy, digital biomarkers, and extended-reality technologies (VR, AR, MR). Students learn to use, evaluate, and advise patients on these tools in practice.
Through an intensive integration of teaching and applied research — supported by the ongoing cooperation with ukb, including the Brain Cloud platform and advanced bedside teaching — graduates develop a professional profile suited for leadership positions in healthcare organizations, digital health departments, the health technology industry, and doctoral research.
“There is broad consensus that the enormous challenges of transformation in healthcare can only be solved through digitalization and AI. Our programmes in Digital Health teach the most innovative health technologies — Machine Learning, Virtual Realities, and Robotics — with distinguished experts. Students experience their practical application in digital diagnostics and therapy at the forefront, in one of Germany's leading digital clinics.”
