Models for strengthening basic education in neighborhoods

Project Overview

"Delta-Netz" is a development project by the Internationaler Bund (IB) for contacting and activating functionally illiterate adults within the funding line for real-world oriented projects on adult literacy and basic education of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). HIU conducts the scientific monitoring and evaluation within the project.

The project for contacting and activating functionally illiterate adults focuses on neighborhood management in medium-sized cities — Suhl, Neuenhagen, Koblenz, and Schwerin — and aims to draw conclusions about effective ways of reaching and activating the target group as well as raising awareness in the informed environment. The model project is scientifically evaluated with the goal of identifying success indicators and enabling conditions that can be transferred to community-based literacy work in general and into the regular operations of the IB.
