Great interest at the "Open Day" at Stuttgart Study Centre: encounters at eye level

Open Day Stuttgart 2024

On 4 July our Stuttgart study centre opened its doors for interested visitors from near and far. Among them school-leavers, friends, parents and grandparents of active students as well as working people from various branches of healthcare, who took the opportunity at the "Open Day" to get an impression of the modern premises at Paulinenstraße and the variety of programmes offered there. A multifaceted accompanying programme awaited them all.

The opening was a public lecture titled "Exciting Insights into the World of Psychology", before Dean of Studies Prof. Dr. Regine Mößle officially welcomed those present and presented Internationaler Bund (IB) as operator as well as the Stuttgart study centre in more detail. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Ingo Pals and Prof. Dr. Inga Liepelt-Scarfone in their function as programme heads informed about structure and content of the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Psychology, their practical relevance and the broad career chances and perspectives after successful study completion.

The programmes Health Care Education / Health Education and Applied Therapy Science – presented by Prof. Dr. Jochen Klenk – aroused particular interest among employees from healthcare due to their partly part-time character, who are looking for a way to underpin their practical activity with an academic foundation or to qualify for further areas of work.

"Join in" was the motto for visitors at various experiments and psychological tests. Particularly popular was the demonstration of treating fear of heights with the help of a virtual reality headset, which offered a realistic insight into this relatively young, innovative treatment method.

An impressive and varied poster exhibition illustrated the diverse research activities in the course of psychology studies and once again emphasised the respectful coexistence of lecturers and students in joint research projects, the flat hierarchies at IB Hochschule and the cooperation at eye level.

Bottom line: the Stuttgart "Open Day" was a complete success. Especially pleasing: still on site, some visitors decided to study at IB Hochschule and took the necessary application documents along right away. We thank the Stuttgart university team and the involved students for the smooth course and organisation of this successful event, which is to be repeated at regular intervals in the future, and the Gasthaus „Bären" in Stuttgart for the support with catering.
