The images from eastern Türkiye are devastating. A devastating earthquake on Monday, 6 February 2023, took many people by surprise and within a short time brought down many buildings, including hospitals, schools and homes.
The WHO reports that 23 million people in Türkiye and Syria are affected by the earthquake, with over 16,000 deaths. The people on the ground need drinking water, food, medicine and protection from the cold.
Internationaler Bund (IB) has set up a donation account for this purpose. Even a small donation can help. Swift help is needed now!
Through its subsidiary IBETH, IB has been active in Türkiye for many years. Since 2014 it has worked there with NGOs on sustainable projects and on alternative solutions for disadvantaged groups, especially refugees.
The organisation IBETH takes care of the further distribution of the financial resources. The two politically neutral aid organisations AKUT and Ahbap take care of both the search and rescue of victims and the distribution of food and medicine in crisis areas. Both organisations help people in need regardless of their ethnic origin or political stance.
