This year's "Poverty & Health" Congress took place both as a digital congress on 6 and 7 March 2023 and as an in-person event on 21 and 22 March 2023 at the Henry Ford Building of Freie Universität (FU) Berlin.
IB Hochschule was also represented with an information stand, staffed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Bürk, Prof. Dr. Silke Brenne, Myrto Rompaki (student advice) and Stefanie Bautsch (student in Health Care Education / Gesundheitspädagogik). The stand offered the opportunity to raise awareness of our study and continuing education offerings among congress participants, establish further contacts with people working in the public health field, and also meet acquaintances and former students and exchange ideas about new projects and developments at the university.
The programme of the two event series (digital and in person) was, as usual, full of diverse and current public health topics, ranging from "Social inequality and COVID-19 in Germany" through "Municipalities shaping care – locally – a contribution to age-friendly communities" to "In the shadow of the pandemic: a world crisis is always also a health crisis", all of which stimulated reflection and discussion.
With many information brochures in their luggage and new ideas for the 2024 "Poverty & Health" Congress – planned active participation of IB Hochschule with presentations of research projects and selected final theses – the congress ended for the IB Hochschule team.
