"Welcome to Germany!" – these will be the first words with which we greet our international students at HIU. Starting in the summer semester 2026, we expect the first international students at our university – right in our new Building 2 on the Health Campus, currently in the final stages of completion.
The International Office is the central point of contact for all international students. It's not just about formalities, but about orientation, support, and the feeling of being welcome. Our task is to accompany students on their journey in Germany – from the very first steps to everyday university life.
With Prof. Dr. Dolores Sanchez Bengoa, Vice-President and Professor for International Business, and Muge Akoglanoglu, Research Assistant and co-founder of the International Office, we have two experienced contacts who will build the International Office at HIU. Both bring years of experience from HdWM in Mannheim and know exactly what questions and challenges international students face.
During their visit to the Health Campus, they were impressed by the new building and its green surroundings – so much so that they wished they could stay right away.
The first questions international students typically ask are quite practical: Where can I live? How do I get a transit pass? What can I do on weekends? How do I find my way around the university? And where can I get help?
The International Office will provide answers to exactly these questions – and be more than just an advisory service. It will be a place where students feel supported with their concerns and aspirations.
With the launch of the international degree programs Digital Health and Health Care Education and Educational Management, the International Office will begin its full operations. Until then, we are preparing intensively so that our new students feel welcome and supported from day one.
We were truly delighted by the visit from Dolores and Muge – and are convinced that the International Office at HIU is in the best hands.
