In June and July 2021, Dr. Tobias Braun and Dr. Axel Kowalski were officially appointed Professors at IB Hochschule für Gesundheit und Soziales. In the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences they represent the teaching areas of Applied Therapy Science and Psychology respectively. Tobias Braun earned his doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cologne, in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences for Health in Bochum, in the field of geriatrics/mobility of people with dementia. Mr. Braun has worked clinically for several years as a physiotherapist with people with neurological diseases in a rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland as well as a research associate and doctoral candidate at the University of Applied Sciences for Health in Bochum. Since November 2020 Mr. Braun has been working as a lecturer for Applied Therapy Science: Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy at IB Hochschule.
Axel Kowalski earned his doctorate in 2003 in the field of Physiological Psychology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. Later he started his own practice for biofeedback and neurofeedback treatments (NeuroFit GmbH). In parallel to his practical work, he took up various lectureships in psychology (University of Police and Administration NRW, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Institute of Studies of the City of Düsseldorf). Since winter semester 2018/2019 Axel Kowalski has also been teaching at the Cologne Study Centre of IB Hochschule, since 1 September 2020 in the framework of a 50% professorship.
