Berlin's First District-Wide Health Day in Marzahn-Hellersdorf Brings Together People, Medicine, and Prevention

Erster bezirksweiter Gesundheitstag in Marzahn-Hellersdorf auf dem Gesundheitscampus am ukb

The first district-wide Health Day on the Health Campus at ukb in Berlin drew a large turnout, plenty of hands-on activities, and prominent support. Institutions, companies, initiatives, and members of the public from across the healthcare sector came together around a clear focus on prevention, health education, and local networking in Marzahn-Hellersdorf.

The organizers were especially pleased to welcome Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin, District Mayor Nadja Zivkovic, and District Councillor Gordon Lemm, who acted as patron of the Health Day.

What stood out most were the conversations: between visitors and healthcare professionals, between volunteers and educational institutions, and across many groups that rarely meet at the same table. The day showed how well the district is already connected, and where new collaborations could go from here.

The program was built for all generations and combined information, prevention, and participation. Visitors could use free health checks, join workshops on mindfulness, breathing, and mental health, or get advice on topics like care, back health, arthrosis, and dental health.

Families and children were well looked after too. A movement course, a bouncy castle, face painting, and stands from the THW-Jugend, the Freiwillige Feuerwehr, and the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz turned health into something kids could try out and enjoy.

Training, study, and careers in healthcare were another focus. Several institutions presented professional pathways in the sector and were available for direct questions. Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences was among them, presenting its degree programs in Digital Health, Health Education, and Psychology, and discussing career options at the intersection of health, digitalization, and society.

For Marzahn-Hellersdorf, the first Health Day was more than an information day. It also gave a real push to healthcare provision and cooperation in the district.

A big thank-you to all the companies, organizations, volunteers, and participants whose work made the day possible.

The turnout makes one thing clear: the Health Day on the Health Campus at ukb Berlin e. V. should not remain a one-off event.
