In the world of Health Education, IB Hochschule für Gesundheit und Soziales in Berlin offers two part-time programmes that are characterised by a unique combination of theory and practice. This connection enables competent health-pedagogical thinking and acting.
The Bachelor Health Care Education / Gesundheitspädagogik (HCE) brings practitioners from various healthcare professions together to acquire sound knowledge in education and health sciences. The Master Health Education (MGP) deepens this specialist and practice-relevant skills, especially with a focus on the development of high pedagogical professionalism.
A high practice connection, action orientation and the conveying of application-oriented knowledge are central quality features of teaching. Through small groups, optimal supervision in the teaching-learning process is guaranteed. A special feature of the programmes is that access is also possible without Abitur. A family-friendly and work-friendly study model also guarantees a balanced work-life balance.
Career chances in health education
Both programmes offer state-recognised qualifications to work as a teacher at health vocational schools of the respective basic profession. Furthermore, diverse possibilities open up in healthcare, e.g. in health prevention and counselling. The Master programme is increasingly aimed at leadership-related positions such as leading vocational schools and other health and educational institutions.
Requirements for the programme
For both Bachelor and Master, proof of a completed vocational training in a health profession is required; for the Bachelor additionally proof of corresponding professional activity. For the Master, an appropriate qualifying university degree with 210 ECTS is additionally required, of which at least 30 ECTS in a pedagogical subject. However, it is possible at our institution to make up the missing 30 pedagogical ECTS within a preparatory programme to enter the Master programme directly.
