Loneliness Summit specialist day

Loneliness Summit specialist day

Loneliness has many faces. On holidays this is particularly evident. Many people stay alone during the holidays or feel lonely despite social encounters. To address this problem, today's "Loneliness Summit" specialist day took place.

After a welcome by Emine Demirbüken-Wegner, Deputy Mayor of Berlin-Reinickendorf and District Councillor for Social Affairs and Citizen Services, various talks were given on the topic, including by Prof. Dr. Mariam Hartinger, who took some impressions away with her. Among them, the insight that loneliness is a subtype of stress and means worry about social devaluation. Particularly striking was the fact that there is even a loneliness-related mortality.

Among other things, she considers psychology and health education necessary to educate the public about the health risks of loneliness. This is exactly where she sees the opportunity for the university to continue to do valuable work.

She also thanks for the valuable opportunity of exchange with all participants and for the important contributions from:

Prof. Dr. med. Mazda Adli, Chief Physician of Fliedner Klinik Berlin and head of the research area on Affective Disorders, Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, CCM, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin

Dr. med. M.A. Adak Pirmorady, ambulatory care lead CBF, psychoanalyst, specialist in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, chairwoman of the European Artists' Guild

Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Jalid Sehouli, Director of the Clinic for Gynaecology with Centre for Oncological Surgery, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
