Networking on the Health Campus – experience report on guest auditing at IB Hochschule

Anne M. gives us an exciting behind-the-scenes look at her time as a guest auditor at IB Hochschule. She works in the trauma surgery area of Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, studies Health Sciences at Charité and is a mentor. In the module "Project management and project work in the field of health" with Prof. Dr. Thomas Bürk, she not only gathered valuable experiences but also developed practical approaches for her work in process optimisation and trainee promotion.

How did it come about that you became a guest auditor at IB Hochschule? – "In the framework of studies at Charité, we have to complete the Studium Generale module in the 3rd semester. This enables us to look beyond modules and educational institutions. Due to the proximity to my work and the Health Campus in Marzahn, my choice clearly fell on IB Hochschule. I found IB Hochschule exciting from the beginning. My former practice instructor in training studies Health Education there and reported to me again and again. In addition, IB Hochschule offered modules personally interesting to me, which I unfortunately would not have been able to attend at Charité. Through the nice student advice I came to the person responsible for my module. She did a lot for me and organised everything (also bureaucratic)."

Which module did you decide on and how did you like it? – "I decided on module 5.2 'Project management and project work in the field of health' and am very satisfied with my choice. Both the lecturer and all fellow students received me cordially and lovingly. So I could immediately work on a project with other students. The interaction was very respectful and considerate."

What do you take with you for your studies and your profession? – "Much I have always shaped from the gut or by feeling. After the module I gained a more scientific approach. I could also get to know the 'shadow sides'. The practical creation of a new project helped me to get an idea of the effort. For example, we stumbled over financing. Exciting was also observing the other groups and their work. Now I have a kind of thread to grasp to one day implement larger projects. I am very grateful to IB Hochschule for the possibility and their openness towards the situation. The smooth and uncomplicated cooperation made it possible to work efficiently and creatively together without bureaucratic hurdles unnecessarily complicating the process. Guest auditing contributes decisively to developing a deeper understanding for different perspectives and ways of working."
