For the third year in a row! HIU was once again represented with a booth at the "Poverty & Health" congress at the Henry Ford Building of the Freie Universität Berlin. Prof. Dr. Silke Brenne and Lena Setzepfand, along with Prof. Dr. Gudrun Zimmermann and Margarida Rischawy Mariano, were able to provide information about HIU's study and continuing education offerings on both congress days, as well as engage in intensive exchanges with representatives of public health institutions and health-promoting initiatives.
This year's congress celebrated its 30th anniversary under the fitting title "Promoting Health Means Promoting Democracy," featuring a program filled with health policy topics and current public health themes.
As a university for health and social sciences, addressing societal challenges such as poverty, social inequality, and healthcare equity is particularly close to our hearts. Our students and faculty engage intensively with these topics – whether in research, teaching, or hands-on projects. The "Poverty & Health" congress provides an essential platform for networking, exchanging knowledge, and developing solutions together. Because we are convinced: a more just society begins with better healthcare for all.
