Prof. Wolfgang Schäberle

Prof. Wolfgang Schäberle is a health scientist and holds a PhD. After qualifying as a physiotherapist in 1993, he initially worked in clinical settings in hospitals, rehabilitation clinics and private practices, where he took on managerial roles. He studied health sciences (B.Sc.) and subsequently completed a Master of Education (M.Ed.). His doctoral thesis focused on the topic ‘Sense of coherence, psychological stress, and closeness and distance in individual physiotherapy treatment’. In 2016, he became a visiting professor at SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, Faculty of Therapy Sciences. In 2018, he was appointed full professor of health sciences at IB University of Applied Sciences Berlin. From 2018 to 2024, he served two terms as Dean of Studies at the Stuttgart Study Centre. Since the change of governing body, he has been Professor of Health Sciences at the Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences Berlin, Stuttgart campus. Prof. Schäberle’s teaching and research focus on clinical hypnotherapy and animal-assisted therapy, particularly dog-assisted interventions. He heads the ‘Animal-Assisted Therapy’ research cluster. He also practises therapy in his naturopathic practice, specialising in trauma and anxiety management, as well as personal development.
