After his Abitur and civilian service, Philipp Lacour began studying Medicine at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in 2003. He was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. After his medical licence in 2010 and his doctorate at the Faculty of Neuroanatomy, he worked at Ernst von Bergmann Hospital Potsdam in the Department of Cardiology. In late 2011 he moved to Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Virchow Klinikum, also in the Department of Cardiology. There he completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, qualifying in February 2020. From 2015 his clinical work focused on rhythmology, with an emphasis on cardiac device therapy. In this area, Philipp Lacour researched diagnostic and treatment options for implantable devices and interference with smartphones and wearables. In January 2021 he completed his habilitation on "Possibilities of modern cardiac device therapy – from diagnosis to beyond death". In November 2022 he was appointed Professor of Digital Health – Medicine (50%) at IB Hochschule. In March 2023 he ended his clinical work at the Charité and has worked since May 2023 at the Spreebogen practice as a cardiologist in private practice.
