Jochen Klenk first studied Medical Engineering at Ulm University of Applied Sciences (Dipl.-Ing. (FH)) and then worked as a research associate at Fraunhofer IPA Stuttgart on robot-assisted surgery. He went on to complete a Master's in Public Health with a focus on biostatistics and epidemiology (MPH). Since 2004 he has worked as a project leader at the Institute of Epidemiology and Medical Biometry at Ulm University. He earned his doctorate there in 2009 in Human Biology on "Overweight and mortality risk". In 2017 he completed his habilitation in Epidemiology on "Physical Activity and Health in Older Adults". Since 2009 he has also led a working group at the Department of Geriatric Rehabilitation at Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus in Stuttgart. He was appointed Professor of Health Sciences at IB Hochschule in 2018.
Dr. Klenk works in a national and international network on research projects focused on physical activity and mobility in older people, falls and fall prevention, and sensor-based monitoring of health factors and behaviour. His research has led to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, as well as several patents. He is also a co-editor of the journal "European Review of Aging and Physical Activity".
