Cooperation Partners

opta data ZukunftsStiftung gGmbH
The opta data ZukunftsStiftung gGmbH (opta data Future Foundation) was founded in 2022. It focuses primarily on the scientific and societal concerns and perspectives of healthcare professionals. Their systemic importance is analysed through scientific studies and communicated to the German public via publications, lectures, and media work. Highlighting the indispensable role of healthcare providers is central to the foundation's mission.

Michels Bildungsforum
The vocational schools of the Michels Bildungsforum für Gesundheitsberufe offer hands-on training in nursing, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy at locations in Brandenburg and Saxony. At the training facilities of the Michels Kliniken, students experience the varied and fulfilling day-to-day work of a rehabilitation clinic. For professional development, a wide range of additional qualifications are available through the Michels Akademie.

Do Physio
Do Physio is a state-recognized physiotherapy and massage school in Fellbach near Stuttgart. Alongside its core training programmes, it also offers part-time degree courses in physiotherapy. At HIU, students can study Applied Therapy Sciences: Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy (B.Sc.). The programme's interprofessional approach gives graduates a highly qualified degree covering all three disciplines.
HIU is also a member of the Association of Private Universities, the Federal Association of Providers of Vocational Education (Bildungsverband) e.V., and the German Association of Occupational Therapists.
Academicization of Healthcare
By European standards, Germany still lags behind in the academicization of healthcare professions. The degree programme in Applied Therapy Science: Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Physiotherapy (B.Sc.) at HIU carry real political significance — it allows students to earn both an academic degree and state professional certification in a single full-time programme. To implement the latest changes in professional regulations effectively, HIU maintains an ongoing dialogue with institutions including the state-funded Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. Our colleagues also network through nationwide working groups of the HVG e.V. (University Network for Health Professions), whose most recent conference was held on HIU premises.
In delivering its therapeutic degree programmes, HIU draws directly on the expertise of its sister organization, the IB Medical Academy. With over 30 years of experience and more than 30 schools across Germany in the health and social sector, the IB Medical Academy is the ideal partner for bridging vocational and higher education. Through the work-integrated degree programme in Applied Therapy Sciences, our students can complete an outstanding training in speech therapy, occupational therapy or physiotherapy.
A key element of our programmes are the regular, multi-week practical placements. From independent practices to the renowned Berlin Trauma Hospital, a broad range of placement facilities are available to our students. We have, for example, a cooperation with the Berlin ENT Practice Network of Prof. Dr. König, which provides access to clinical care structures and patient supervision in a medical setting. We also maintain a long-standing and trusted partnership with the Vivantes Auguste-Viktoria Klinikum day clinic in Berlin.
I was surprised by how open and engaged the students from HIU were during their placement. They never just accepted things at face value — they always asked for the background. A patient with shoulder and neck pain? Straight away they wanted to know why, what the clinical picture was, and where the patient stood.
