What We Do

How We Support You

At HIU, students can decide for themselves how international they want their studies to be. If you aim to work in a global environment or are interested in foreign languages and cultures, an internationally oriented programme provides the platform to acquire the necessary skills for a successful career.

The International Office organizes all stays abroad with students and advises them on funding and other programmes. We ensure that credits earned abroad are compatible with your studies at HIU.

Development of the university's internationalization strategy.
Cooperation with other universities.
Coordination of outgoing and incoming students.
Advising exchange students on visas, housing, and daily life.
Facilitating contacts with companies for internships.
Coordination of the International Caring Strategy (Welcome Week, German courses, Buddy/Tandem programmes, cultural events).

Thanks to a growing network of partner universities, we offer semesters abroad where quality is regularly reviewed. We ensure your studies are not unnecessarily extended by aligning content between institutions.

Growing Network

Free-Movers

You can also choose a university outside our network. The International Office will assist Free-Movers with programme selection, preparation, and credit recognition.

Full Flexibility

Flexibility & Integration

You decide the extent of your international experience:

English-Taught DegreesComplete a full Master's degree in English — e.g. Digital Health M.Sc. or Health Care Education M.A.
Semesters AbroadSpend a semester at a partner university in Europe or beyond.
Internships AbroadMany students choose to spend their practical semester abroad to gain professional experience and cultural exposure simultaneously.
Voluntary StaysUse semester breaks for short-term international experiences.

We offer beginner-level German courses to help with daily life and finding internship partners. Students with high-level German skills can also apply for our German-taught programmes, which feature small groups and a family-like atmosphere.

Tandem Programme

Regular meetings organized with the Student Council to exchange experiences and practice languages.
