New Name, New Design, and New Perspectives for the Future of Healthcare Education

HIU Rebranding – Neuer Name, neues Design und neue Perspektiven

Berlin, March 2026 – The IB University of Applied Sciences for Health and Social Affairs is now operating under a new name: Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences (HIU). With this name change, the state-recognized university is consistently positioning itself on an international level and placing an even stronger focus on the future of healthcare.

The new name reflects what has defined the university since its founding in 2007 – and what will take center stage even more in the future: innovation in healthcare. While the previous name was primarily understood in German-speaking regions, "Health Innovation University" creates international clarity and visibility. Until mid-2025, the university was part of the Internationaler Bund (IB) and, following a change in ownership, is now part of the Global Education Network Group (GEN Group).

"The new name is more than just a rebranding – it represents our clear vision of an internationally oriented university that actively shapes innovation in healthcare. At the same time, our core commitment remains unchanged: despite all technological advancements, we must never lose sight of the human being," says the President of the university, Prof. Dr. Mariam Hartinger. "This is exactly what our guiding principle stands for: seeing the human being."

The new brand identity also includes a modern logo, a contemporary design, and a completely redesigned website. The new website will go live on April 1, 2026, making the university's international orientation visible in the digital space.

On the same date, the university will move into a new building on the healthcare campus of the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (ukb). This step further strengthens its close connection to practice and creates optimal conditions for teaching, research, and collaboration in the healthcare sector.

In terms of content, the university remains true to its proven profile: study programs, accreditations, and degrees remain unchanged. At the same time, HIU is strategically expanding its portfolio, including new internationally oriented study programs in areas such as Digital Health, Health Education, and Psychology.

With its new name and strategic realignment, the university pursues a clear vision: to become an internationally connected institution that educates professionals for global healthcare challenges and combines innovation with a strong focus on people.

"New Name. Proven Quality. New Perspectives."
