The Academic Senate is one of the central governing bodies of a university. It plays a key role in academic decision-making, helps shape the development of teaching and learning, and represents the interests of all university members. Students actively participate here, contributing their perspective to the university's development.
It is all the more encouraging when students bring their commitment and sense of responsibility to this body. Anna Rathgeb and Julian Menonna are two motivated students from the Applied Psychology program at the Stuttgart campus who are dedicated to advocating for their fellow students and contributing constructively to university life.
Both Anna and Julian are 22 years old and in their fifth semester of Applied Psychology. Their decision to pursue this field stems from a shared fascination with people – albeit with different focal points. Anna is particularly drawn to human experience and the opportunity to support and help people in the future. Julian values the connection between science and practice, as well as the scientific exploration of psychological constructs that are highly relevant to society.
Outside their studies, both are involved in a variety of activities. Anna has been a certified yoga instructor since 2024, teaching at fitness studios, clubs, and various events around Stuttgart. She also regularly helps elderly people with household tasks. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time in nature. Julian has worked as an auxiliary in educational services for three years – a role that grew out of his voluntary social year at a daycare center. He is also musically active and plays in various symphony orchestras in the Stuttgart area.
What unites them is the desire to actively shape the university, further strengthen the study programs, and responsibly represent student interests. Openness, honesty, and transparency are central values for both. As a link between the student body and the university, they particularly want to improve communication and exchange.
All students can use the Moodle chat for exchange between students and their representatives to share concerns, suggestions, and questions. Anna and Julian look forward to open dialogue and collaborative exchange.
