Engaged in the Academic Senate: Anna Rathgeb and Julian Menonna introduce themselves

Members of the Academic Senate

The Academic Senate is one of the central bodies of a university. It contributes to important academic decisions, helps shape the development of studies and teaching, and represents the interests of the university's members. Students actively take part here and help shape the university from their perspective.

It is all the more gratifying when students want to bring commitment and responsibility into this body. With Anna Rathgeb and Julian Menonna, two motivated students from the Applied Psychology programme at the Stuttgart Study Centre introduce themselves – they want to actively stand up for the interests of their fellow students and help shape university life constructively.

Anna Rathgeb and Julian Menonna are both 22 years old and in their 5th semester of Applied Psychology. Their decision to study this subject is based on a shared fascination with people – albeit with different focuses. Anna is particularly interested in human experience and the opportunity to support and help people in the future. Julian especially appreciates the connection between science and practice as well as scientific research into psychological constructs that are highly relevant for society and the future.

They are also engaged beyond their studies in many ways. Anna has been a trained yoga teacher since 2024 and teaches in fitness studios, clubs and at various events around Stuttgart. She also regularly supports older people with household tasks. In her free time she enjoys travelling, hiking and spending time in nature. Julian has been working for three years as an auxiliary in the education service – a role that grew out of his Voluntary Social Year at a daycare centre. He is also musically active and plays in various symphony orchestras in the Stuttgart area.

What motivates them together is the wish to actively shape the university, further strengthen the programme and represent the interests of the student body responsibly. Openness, honesty and transparency are central values. As a link between the student body and the university, they especially want to develop communication and exchange further.

For requests, suggestions and questions, all students have access to the chat for exchange between students and the student representatives via Moodle. Anna and Julian look forward to open dialogue and shared exchange.
