On 29 February 2024 the DigitalForum Gesundheit took place in Berlin. This year's congress ran under the motto: Making digital care simple. From artificial to collective intelligence.
Leading experts discussed on the panel, including Rudolf Dück from Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Markus Holzbrecher-Morys from the German Hospital Federation, Dr. Michael von Wagner from Universitätsklinikum Frankfurt am Main and Heiko Hauptmann from BG Kliniken. They explored the question of what is necessary and possible in a digital hospital world.
At the centre stood the call for necessary structural change to shape digitalisation sustainably and transparently. Particularly highlighted was the presentation of "Hugging Face", an overview platform for AI models that illustrated the development of artificial intelligence. It was emphasised that data-driven medicine aims for structured, standardised and traceable quality.
Awareness of data protection was underlined by discussing the dangers of minimal disclosure of data points. Three data points are enough to find out everything about a person via Google. Big Data and Small Data were discussed as opposites, with the importance of individual solutions emphasised.
The forum emphasised the necessity of networking and exchange, with the balance between standardisation and individual solutions playing a key role. IT should not be in the foreground but rather offer added value to users.
Additionally, the importance of a transparent error and learning culture was pointed out. The Digitalforum Gesundheit 2024 thus illustrated the unavoidable changes in the health sector that go beyond purely technological development.
