How are studies going? Interview with Jona-Sophie Liebner, student in Bachelor Digital Health

The two new Digital Health Bachelor and Master programmes started for the first time in April 2024 and the first semester is now complete. The programme prepares students to optimally use modern technologies, such as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence, in the medical environment. In a short interview we asked our student Jona-Sophie Liebner why she decided on the programme, what her professional goals are, and what she particularly likes about it.
Jona, you study Digital Health in the Bachelor. What moved you to start the programme at IB Hochschule? – I decided on Digital Health because I have great interest in how digitalisation will transform healthcare. The possibility of developing innovative solutions that improve the care of insured people and facilitate access to health services fascinates me. The decision to study at IB Hochschule was easy for me as the university enjoys an excellent reputation in digital health sciences. I also find the close cooperation with Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin very nice, as we can gain a lot of practical experience.
What does the programme teach you, and what particularly appeals to you? – In the Digital Health programme I learn a variety of topics that focus on the interface between health and technology. These include for example health informatics, telemedicine, health systems and many other exciting topics. These topics prepare me to work in a rapidly developing area and exert a positive influence on healthcare. I particularly like the combination of theory and practice (at ukb) as well as the interdisciplinary cooperation with fellow students from different specialisations, which leads to a diverse exchange of ideas and perspectives.
How will this help you in your professional career, and where is your journey going? – Through the Digital Health programme I can take on a position in the senior public service in administration. Overall the programme prepares me to take an active role in the transformation of healthcare and to have a positive influence on insured people's care and outcomes. Where exactly the journey leads I cannot say at present – the future will show that.
We warmly thank Jona-Sophie Liebner for the open and exciting interview. We wish her continued much success and joy in the Digital Health programme and are curious to see where her path will lead!
