The participants of the BMBF project's testing did not let themselves be deterred. The Master-level certificate programme was used by Bachelor graduates of IB Hochschule as well as highly qualified staff of BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (ukb). Some weekends were spent at computers, working with statistics in the quantitative research methods module, contents of qualitative research methodology, project management and their own research projects. The therapists from ukb can look forward to one last module in January – on quality management.
The Bachelor-level modules of the certificate programme were scientifically accompanied in 2019 as part of an education partnership with BG Klinikum Hamburg. To this day, the BMBF team is delighted that contact with the participants remains beyond the education partnership and that corona allowed the post-survey of the participants to take place in person in the summer.
At the end of December the project "Therapeutic Research as part-time continuing education for health professions – testing, evaluation and establishment of sustainable strategies for implementation" comes to an end in the funding line "Aufstieg durch Bildung: offene Hochschulen". Since 2018 phase 2 of the funding has tested scientific modules for the therapy professions of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.
The BMBF team thanks all participants for their joy in lifelong learning, with all the difficulties that come with part-time studying. We thank both BG clinics for the support of their staff – for example in the form of releases and the willingness to allow interviews with HR managers and funding bodies at several points in time.
