International networking continues to advance: recent developments at HIU's International Office.
The International Office continues to advance its internationalization strategy, reinforcing the university's global connections through a series of new initiatives, partnerships, and projects.
From September 10 to 12, 2025, Prof. Dr. Dolores Sánchez Bengoa and Prof. Dr. Hans Rüdiger Kaufmann represented HdWM and HIU at the 18th Annual EMRBI Conference "Exploring New Horizons in Business and Management" in Porto, Portugal. During the conference, both professors established valuable international contacts and explored potential new Erasmus+ collaborations. Several new potential partner universities have already been identified.
A few weeks later, Prof. Dr. Sánchez Bengoa participated in the EU Policy Camp and the Annual Conference of the EVBB in Brussels. Under the theme "Open School Education and Inclusion," the event focused on diversity, access to education, and international collaboration. New Memoranda of Understanding with universities around the world are already in preparation.
To help international students settle in more easily, the International Office has added a new "Life in Berlin" section to the Student Handbook, providing practical information on administrative procedures, visas, finances, insurance, public transport, employment, safety, health, and places of worship.
Beginning October 13, 2025, the International Office offers a 16-week online "Business English" course for administrative staff, covering small talk, email communication, meetings, negotiations, and polite communication strategies.
The International Office also reminds all staff of the wide range of Erasmus+ mobility opportunities available, including teaching mobility at partner universities and training mobility through job shadowing, workshops, and professional development.
With every new partnership, project, and initiative, HIU moves closer to its goal of becoming an even more connected, innovative, and inclusive academic community.
