The Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences is the new name of the IB University of Health and Social Sciences. The HIU is a private, state-recognized university based in Berlin with additional study centers in Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. For our Stuttgart Study Center, we are seeking research-oriented individuals with a high degree of initiative who will help shape the profile of the Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences (HIU) and provide innovative impulses for teaching, research, and knowledge transfer in the healthcare sector. The positions are available immediately and are initially fixed-term for two years, with the intention of offering permanent employment thereafter.
Responsibilities:
- •What to Expect As a Professor, you will represent the field of Psychology with a clear focus on research and knowledge transfer at the study centers of the Health Innovation University of Applied Sciences (HIU). At the core of your role are your teaching responsibilities as a Professor and the strategic development of the university’s research profile. You will initiate and lead new research projects, establishing your own areas of expertise while actively involving fellow professors and research staff in collaborative research activities.
- oRepresenting the field of Psychology in teaching (18 teaching hours per week for full-time appointments and 9 teaching hours per week for part-time appointments) and research at the HIU study centers (a reduction in teaching load is possible depending on the extent of research activities).
- oActively acquiring third-party funding and establishing sustainable research structures within the Department of Psychology.
- oDesigning, conducting, and leading national and international research projects.
- oFurther developing the university’s research profile and strengthening its visibility within the scientific community.
- oBuilding and maintaining research collaborations and networks with partners from academia, healthcare, and professional practice.
- oSupporting early-career researchers and contributing to research-related training and qualification programs.
- oTransferring scientific knowledge into professional practice, teaching, and continuing education.
- oParticipating in academic committees and university governance.
- oWillingness to travel to other study centers due to the university’s decentralized structure, as well as to teach in academically related degree programs.
Your Profile
- •Completed university degree in Psychology.
- •Relevant doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in the field of Psychology.
- •At least five years of professional experience (with complete documentation), including a minimum of three years outside the higher education sector (in accordance with the appointment requirements for professorships under Section 100(1) of the Berlin Higher Education Act – BerlHG).
- •In-depth knowledge of core areas of Psychology, as well as statistics and research methods.
- •Particular expertise in at least two of the following three areas: Educational Psychology Forensic Psychology Work, Organizational, and Industrial Psychology
- •Demonstrated academic excellence, evidenced by relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- •Proven experience in successfully acquiring third-party research funding.
- •Extensive experience in the design and implementation of research projects.
- •Ability to collaborate across disciplines and to establish and maintain research networks.
- •Teaching aptitude demonstrated through documented teaching experience in higher education.
- •Experience in the use of digital learning technologies.
- •Excellent German and English language skills for teaching and research.
